What Type Of Accident Is Most Common In Las Vegas?

Human beings seem to be quite accident-prone. We slip and fall, trip, get into car accidents, ingest poisons and hurt ourselves in numerous ways with surprising frequency. However, when someone is hurt in an accident, it is always important to look at who is responsible. Would a victim have slipped if the store manager had cleaned up the spilled liquid? Would a car accident have happened if the driver had not been drinking? When someone is hurt as a result of someone else's negligence, the victim may have the basis of a personal injury lawsuit. High Stakes Injury Law in Las Vegas helps victims who have suffered injuries at the hands of another person or due to another person's negligence collect the damages they deserve.

CAR ACCIDENTS ARE NUMBER ONE

The largest collective group of personal injury accident are vehicle crashes. This includes accidents in which only one car is involved, accidents in which two or more cars are involved, pedestrian and bicycle accidents and motorcycle crashes. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department publishes figures every year of how many people are killed in various types of traffic accidents. According to the LVMPD, the following numbers of people died in traffic accidents in the city in the following years:

Type of Accident 2012 2013 2014
Bicycle Rider Killed 1 1 0
Car Driver Killed 13 9 6
Motorcycle Rider Killed 8 7 8
Car Passenger Killed 5 4 5
Pedestrian Killed 11 16 8
Total 38 37 27

Alcohol was a factor in many of these crashes. The LVMPD reports that it made 2,000 DUI arrests in 2012, 1,750 in 2013 and 1,400 so far in 2014. Clearly, traffic is a large cause of personal injury lawsuits, although there is not a reliable way to calculate all the other types of trauma such as slip and fall accidents, product liability cases or dog bites.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I AM INJURED?

It is fairly certain that if you are the victim of a personal injury accident the insurance company representing the person who caused the accident will try to keep you from collecting damages. Insurance companies make money by denying claims, not paying them. Turn to High Stakes Injury Law in Las Vegas for information on how to recover damages for your case and protect your rights when you are a victim.
