Commuters Stopped By Rollover Crash

A rollover crash on U.S. Highway 95 near Summerlin Parkway brought traffic to a standstill and trapped a driver inside his vehicle, according to Nevada Highway Patrol reports. While the driver suffered only non-life-threatening injuries, he was taken to University Medical Center in Las Vegas after being extracted from the vehicle by firefighters. The crash blocked traffic for some time as police cleaned up the wreckage and investigated the scene of the accident. It is unclear exactly what caused the car to flip over.

ROLLOVER CRASHES MORE COMMON WITH CERTAIN VEHICLES

While the overall number of fatal crashes has dropped in the past few years, the number of rollover crashes has increased, almost solely due to the growing popularity of small trucks and SUVs. These vehicles have a much higher rate of rollover than regular sedans, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Rollover accidents are often very serious or fatal if the passengers and driver are not properly restrained. Without restraints, it is very common for people inside the car to be thrown around the inside of the cabin or even ejected through the windshield or a window.

WHAT IF I ROLL MY OWN VEHICLE? CAN I STILL COLLECT DAMAGES?

Depending on the reason for the rollover, you may be entitled to damages if you are injured in a crash. While it is possible that you may be held entirely responsible for the accident, it is also possible that someone else may be to blame. For example, several cases were recently settled by Ford Motor Company when defective tires blew out on SUVs, causing serious rollover crashes. A jury determined in each case that the driver could not have avoided the accident and that Ford should be responsible for the damages. Another example of how a rollover crash might not be entirely your fault is if another driver cuts you off, causing you to slam on brakes and roll the vehicle. Before you decide not to pursue a personal injury case for your rollover vehicle accident injuries, you owe it to yourself to talk to an attorney. High Stakes Injury Law's car accident lawyers in Las Vegas are ready to help you find a way to recover compensation for your rollover accident that will allow you to pay your medical bills, lost wages and other expenses as well as seek compensation for your pain and suffering.
